It was in 1972 that Gianfranco Pettinari and Franco Sparaventi established a small Workshop. However, the founders soon astutely identified an area of expanding market demand, and turned to the production of equipment and machinery for working aluminum profiles. In just a few years, FOM became the benchmark for frames professionals.
The logo takes us back to the time when FOM was a small machining workshop which also produced die-cast model planes, perfect scale copies of the aircraft used by the world’s airlines and air forces. In human history, flight has always represented the striving towards ambitious targets, a message that FOM has truly made its own over the years.
'70 The Seventies FOM won the attention and trust of an ever-growing clientele and started to sell its products at a nation-wide level. After a first series of manual or semiautomatic machines, it began to conceive, design and produce machinery with higher technology content. From this point onward, “R&D” was to become its central activity, absorbing ever-increasing attention and resources. In the late Seventies FOM INDUSTRIE established itself in a respected position on the European and Mediterranean market.
’80 The Eighties In the years which followed, FOM continued to invest in innovation and technology 1985 saw the incorporation of a new company, TEX Computer srl, specializing in the design and manufacture of numerical controls and integrated industrial automation systems. TEX Computer provided concrete proof of the commitment to creating an “automation culture”
’90 1991: is the year of presentation and market launch of a new semiautomatic line for the assembly of thermal break profiles. After this event FOM introduced its first numerically controlled machining center machine tool designed for a wider range of industrial aluminum machining processes. 1994: FOM INDUSTRIE acquired 100% ownership of COMALL, leader in the production of punching machines for the frames sector.
2000 Saw additional industrial expansion: work started on the new factory to house IMAR, an associate company which carries out high-precision, top-quality tooling processes. The group also acquired a holding in P.V. Tecnic srl, which produces and sells machine tools to machine PVC in Italy and abroad.
2002 Saw the completion of the new FOM INDUSTRIE headquarters at Cattolica (Rimini). For FOM, this marked a significant turning-point. It both crowned thirty years of industrial success and provided a launch-pad for future initiatives.
2004 FOM INDUSTRIE heads the FOM GROUP, a pool of subsidiary and associate companies, structured with a view to carrying out the stages in the production process with the group’s own resources and offering the customers a package including additional and complementary services. Today, FOM Group occupies new and modern factories for a total area of about 540,000 sq. ft. and with more than 400 employees.
2005 FST- FOM Software Technology is the FOM Group’s Software House. The Company designs Software for all Industrial Applications.
